Welcome to an Isle of Lewis holiday cottage – Benshaw Cottage
A Lewis holiday cottage where you can get away from it all. That is exactly how to describe Benshaw Cottage. It is set in a quiet crofting village called Tobson, set beside a calm inland sea loch.
With good kitchen and bathroom facilities, it is just the place for a relaxing self-catering holiday on Great Bernera, an island with a road bridge to it which is off the west of the Isle of Lewis.
Singletons, couples, families and groups of friends regularly come to Benshaw Cottage. The cottage sleeps up to four with a double bed in one bedroom and two singles in the other.
Benshaw Cottage overlooks a placid sea loch, known locally in Gaelic as An t-Òb (The Obbe – an inland waterway). Whether you are an avid photographer, an aurora borealis watcher, a trout and salmon fisherman, a sea angler or walker or are just a nature lover, Benshaw Cottage is ideal as a base.
Lochs and rivers in the Western Isles, also known as the Outer Hebrides, are known for their fishing and the clear, unpolluted air and skies make it very special. This cottage is for those seeking a very relaxing break – even the clocks run quiet. There is so much to see and do.
Wot? No wi-fi?
Our reviews show how former guests tell us they loved having a holiday without constantly checking emails, etc. So we have not installed wi-fi. Free wi-fi is available at the local community centre, two miles away and at other island locations. Mobile phone signal is available from the main networks up the nearby hill and on other high points but not actually in the cottage.
